Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested for DUI After Crashing Twice in 30 Minutes

An off-duty Orange County Sheriff’s deputy, was arrested when he crashed his Mercedes-Benz into another vehicle, he had crashed 30 minutes earlier and was allowed to drive away from that accident scene by fellow deputies.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a crash involving Deputy Allan James Waters, 36, and another vehicle outside City Hall in Dana Point. The responding deputies took a police report but permitted Waters to leave the scene.

Waters was involved in a second accident when he crashed his Mercedes-Benz into a Toyota, a 78-year-old passenger in the Toyota, suffered minor injuries according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers, who responded to the second accident said Waters showed signs of being intoxicated and was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence. Waters is a 13-year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, assigned to south Orange County, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The department is conducting an investigation to determine why Waters was allowed to drive away from the earlier accident.
